goldilocks-and-the-three-bears-story-box

Once upon a time, there were three bears - Daddy Bear, Mummy Bear and Baby Bear. They lived in a cottage in the woods.

One day they went out for a walk. While they were out, a little girl named Goldilocks came to their house and went inside.

She saw three bowls of porridge on the table.

Goldilocks tasted Daddy Bear's porridge. It was too hot.

She tasted Mummy Bear's porridge. It was too cold.

She tasted Baby Bear's porridge. It was just right.

So she ate it all up.

Then Goldilocks sat on Daddy Bear's chair. It was too hard.

She sat on Mummy Bear's chair. It was too soft.

She sat on Baby Bear's chair. It was just right

But when she leaned back in Baby Bear's chair, she broke it.

Goldilocks then thought she would take a nap, so she went upstairs.

Soon, the bears came back from their walk. They went to eat their porridge.

"Someone's been eating my porridge," said Daddy Bear.

"Someone's been eating my porridge," said Mummy Bear.

"Someone's been eating my porridge," said Baby Bear, "and they've eaten it all up."

"Someone's been sitting in my chair," said Daddy Bear.

"Someone's been sitting in my chair," said Mummy Bear.

"Someone's been sitting in my chair," said Baby Bear, "and they've broken it!"

The bears decided to take a look upstairs.

"Someone's been sleeping in my bed," said Daddy Bear.

"Someone's been sleeping in my bed," said Mummy Bear.

"Someone's been sleeping in my bed," said Baby Bear, "and she's still there!"

The noise woke Goldilocks up. When she saw the three bears, she was so frightened that she jumped out of bed and ran away as fast as she could go.

And that was the last the bears ever saw of Goldilocks!

red-riding-hood-story-vs-goldilocks

The main character in a traditional story is usually good character that is given a problem to solve in the story. In the story of Red Riding Hood, for example, the main character is Red Riding Hood. She is given the problem of the wolf. At then end of the story the problem is solved – the wolf is gone - and Red Riding Hood lives happily ever after.

This is different in Goldilocks and The Three Bears because Goldilocks is the main character and she is naughty and she causes the problems in the story. The problems are not solved in this story. Baby Bear's porridge is eaten and his chair is still broken.
