This first lesson shows how to identify the subject and the verb in a sentence. There are three types of verb - action verbs, helping verbs and linking verbs. This lesson will teach subjects and verbs through sentences with an action verb.

 

It is also important to recognise how many subjects and verbs are in a sentence.

✅ How to identify when more than one person is acting as one subject in a sentence and when more than one verb is acting as one verb in a sentence.

1. a sentence must have a subject

 

in sentences with an action verb the subject

will be who or what is doing the action

2. a sentence must also have a main verb
